Mark Zuckerberg Elected TIME Person of the Year

Rohan Naravane, Dec 16, 2010 1325 hrs IST

Also, Facebook is named as the "best place to work"

Yesterday, the prestigious TIME magazine released its choice for the TIME Person of the Year accolade - Mark Zuckerberg. You better know the name of this man, as there's a one-twelfth chance that you might be using his product. We're of course talking about Facebook - the social networking mega-site that seeks to connect people over the internet. The article talks about Zuckerburg's journey from being a 19 year old college student at the Harvard University, where he started it as a pet-project, to the current success of Facebook. The recently released movie 'The Social Network' captures the same story of Mark Zuckerberg.

As of today, Facebook has 550 million registered users. One out of every twelve people on the planet has a Facebook account. It's a double-whammy moment for Mark, who not only has a personal recognition but it is also reported side-by-side that Facebook is named as the "best place to work". A part of this is encompassed in the TIME's write-up where it states that there aren't any special offices for people higher-up in the company; there aren't any cubicles as well.

This is probably one of the rare times when Facebook is actually in news for good. It otherwise has been thrashed on many a regular occasion - from unlawful user data usage to deleted photos still being accessible among a lot more. According to a survey, people don't trust Facebook but cannot help themselves in avoiding its usage.

Way to go Mark, you have created one heck of an addictive substance.

By FRED MUKINDAPosted Wednesday, December 15 2010 at 13:08

Police have tightened security hours before key suspects in the 2007 post election violence are named by the International Criminal Court.

While urging the public to remain calm after the names are revealed at The Hague, Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere said heavy deployment had been made in areas that were worst affected by the chaos.

“Concerns have been made from several quarters that this event will ignite violence in some parts. We assure the public that we have made adequate security arrangements in all areas of the country to forestall any eventuality,” he said.

The police chief alluded to intelligence reports saying “criminal elements planned to take the opportunity to break the law".

He warned that his officers would deal with perpetrators “firmly and swiftly".

Politicians were also asked to handle the outcome of The Hague announcement in the interest of security, stability and rule of law in the country.

Notices warning of planned demonstrations was sent to provincial police commands and other formations of the police last week.

The reports mention the Rift Valley as a hot spot, but commanders across the country had been ordered to be on the lookout.

The briefs further warn in the event demonstrators turn rowdy, officers should be restrained from confronting them with live ammunition.

Intelligence officers, police sources said, have for months been gathering information covertly in areas that were hit by the violence with the aim of establishing if there are threats of fresh violence.

At the same time, Provincial Security and Intelligence Committees were asked to seek politicians, who would turn reach out to their supporters and advise them against causing chaos.

The Nation learnt that besides the regular duty police officers, contingents of the administration police and the General Service Unit have been put on notice for the task.

In a pointer that eruption of chaos was not anticipated, massive deployments that include other armed government agencies to boost the police force, have been avoided this time round.

Prisons boss Isaiah Osugo said his department is always ready to supply the extra force but the police had not placed the request.

The law mandates the police commissioner to gazette any person to assume police powers and duties, especially to meet a shortfall.

President Kibaki  directed police and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to deal firmly with  individuals engaging in hate speech while addressing Kenyan during Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Cavs vs. Heat: LeBron James returns: James scores 24 points in third quarter, Heat leads, 95-65
December 2, 2010 |  7:17 pm

It's getting hard to tell if the Cleveland fans are booing LeBron James or their own team.

Miami leads the Cavaliers, 95-65, at the end of the third quarter in front of an increasingly subdued crowd at Quicken Loans Arena.

James continues to play as if he's unfazed by all the negative attention -- he has a game-high 38 points so far, 24 of which came in the third quarter.

Still, it's unfortunate Cleveland hasn't been able to put up more of a fight. The fans probably would have a little more anti-LeBron pep left in them if their team hadn't given up that 16-0 run in the first half.

But if the fans have anything left to express, they better do it soon because LeBron could be on the bench for most of the fourth quarter.

If you want to join a live chat about the game, go to our Lakers blog, where you can find one hosted by our Lakers blogger, Mark Medina, here.

Police call for end of volunteer searches for missing Michigan
boys
By the CNN Wire Staff

(CNN) -- Police are asking that the volunteer searches for three missing Michigan brothers be stopped by Friday night.

Local authorities and federal investigators have been trying to find 9-year-old Andrew Skelton, 7-year-old Alexander William Skelton and 5-year-old Tanner Skelton last seen on Thanksgiving.
The end of the volunteer searches will allow authorities the opportunity to process what has been done and collected and to "re-evaluate our direction for the following week," said Larry Weeks, police chief of Morenci, Michigan.

John Skelton, the boys' father who has been charged with parental kidnapping, is fighting his extradition from Ohio, authorities said Wednesday. A hearing is set for December 14.

Skelton was arrested Tuesday upon his release from a mental health facility where he was being treated after a suicide attempt, Weeks said.
Although investigators have found "a number of items," they still do not know the children's whereabouts, Weeks said.

Asked whether he believes that the boys are dead, Weeks said Wednesday, "I refuse to believe that at this point," saying he wanted to maintain hope. He did, however, repeat his Tuesday statement that a positive outcome is not anticipated.

Investigators have not spoken with Skelton "in some time," he said, or developed any additional information. He previously said authorities are skeptical of the information Skelton has provided.

Skelton said he left the three boys with a woman, whom he identified as Joann Taylor, the morning before he tried to take his own life -- in part to ensure that they did not witness his suicide attempt.

Skelton said Taylor was supposed to take the boys to their home in Morenci, a southern Michigan town of about 2,400 people about 40 miles west-northwest of Toledo, Ohio, Friday afternoon, Weeks said. But the boys never arrived.

Earlier, authorities determined that Skelton had no "established relationship" with the person he named as Taylor, and they aren't certain that she even exists.

Authorities continue to ask for the public's help, hoping someone saw Skelton's blue 2000 Dodge Caravan, in which he was believed to be carrying the boys along a 25-mile stretch of road between Morenci and Holiday City, Ohio.

The last time someone other than a family member saw the boys was at 5 p.m. on November 25, according to the chief.

Police say Tanner is 3 feet, 6 inches tall with strawberry blond hair and blue eyes, and weighs about 40 pounds. Alexander is 3 feet, 9 inches tall, has brown hair and eyes, weighs about 45 pounds and has scars on his hairline and chin. The oldest brother, Andrew, is 4 feet, 1 inch tall, has brown hair and eyes and weighs roughly 57 pounds.
You may have watched the "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!" on CBS, but here's what you didn't see after the show at the Conga Room in Los Angeles, where numerous stars spoke to the press about their nominations.

Eminem, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga Lead Grammy Nominations

 1. With seven Grammy nominations this year, Bruno Mars didn't hesitate to pat himself on the back in the press room following the announcement show. On several occasions, the artist made reporters ask him several times how it felt to be nominated in so many categories. Each time, he would smile and brush his shoulder with smug satisfaction. Jokes aside, Bruno Mars isn't taking the honors for granted. "It's a little surreal," he said with sincerity. "We're thankful." On working with Cee Lo Green on the Grammy-nominated track "F**k You," Mars recalled the soul singer's passion in the studio. "He just sang the shit out of it, basically. Man, that guy deserves that one." Who would Mars like to collaborate with in the future? Alicia Keys, Prince and Kings of Leon.

2. Four years ago, Paramore singer Hayley Williams never would've pictured herself being featured on a hip-hop song. (She's featured on B.o.B.'s "Airplanes, Part II," nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals). "I love hip-hop, but I never would've imagined it," she said. "But you can never say never." And what is Williams' favorite song of 2010? "Just the Way You Are," by Bruno Mars. Could a possible collaboration be in the works?

3. R&B singer Monica said she hasn't been nominated for a Grammy Award since 1999. So being nominated this year for Best R&B Album for her latest set, "Still Standing," was a bit of a shocker. "I was not expecting anything. I have not been a part of the Grammys, as far as being nominated, since 1999," she said. "So at 16 years old, I didn't understand what it means. Now at 30, I'm in shock that I'm considered being nominated."

2010 Grammys Central

4. Rapper B.o.B. may have five Grammy nods under his belt, but what was the highlight for him in 2010? "Probably performing for Barack Obama at the National Gen44 Summit, and opening up for Jay-Z and Eminem at stadiums," he said. And he couldn't forget to mention the release of his debut album, "B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray." "It was something way past due, so I'm glad it happened," the rapper said.

5. Looking dapper in a shiny gray suit, a white v-neck and a diamond-covered cross necklace, Cee Lo Green, nominated for four Grammys, including Record of the Year for "F**k You," said he'll likely tour behind new album "The Lady Killer" in 2011. The first stop will be Australia. Cee Lo also revealed that he'd be collaborating with Danger Mouse on the third Gnarls Barkely album in the coming year. He admitted that he never expected "F**k You" to become such a hit, let alone a song that would receive a Grammy nod. ""wasn't meant to be a radio song, initially," he said. "It really took on a life of its own."

6. TV viewers probably didn't notice that Miranda Lambert's dress was covered with tiny mirrors, which blinded many of the press room folks when the obnoxiously bright lights reflected them. Aside from that, Lambert, whose "The House that Built Me" is nominated for Song of the Year, said that she emotionally lost it the first time she heard the tune. "I started bawling," she said. "It takes a lot to get me to a crying point when I listen to music."

7. If Cee Lo Green performs "F**k You" at this year's Grammy Awards show, how will it be handled? "When it comes to broadcast television, there are rules and regulations," Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow said. "It really has nothing to do with the Academy. It's mandated by the government. We'll deal with that the way we have to. But we believe in free speech and First Amendment rights. We support the rights of artists who create and speak their minds. We'll deal with it so that we're in the law, but also within the framework of the music and presenting the essence of what was really an amazing song."

8. What is LL Cool J's favorite song with Auto-Tune? "You have to ask T-Pain that question," he said. "You'll probably get a more credible answer.

9. Jimmy Jam revealed a little-known fact about Justin Bieber following the evening's Grammy nominations announcement. The teen pop sensation is amazing at "Guitar Hero." Jimmy Jam also revealed that all the original members of the Time plan release a new album in February.

10. Late-night TV host Craig Ferguson's highlight of 2010 would've been his Grammy nomination in the Best Spoken Word Album for "American on Purpose." But he couldn't tell the press room that. "Do you want me to say Grammy my nomination? 'Cause I can't, because my wife is pregnant." When told he was up against such greats as Carol Burnett and Woody Allen, Ferguson responded, "I'm the crappiest person on this thing."

Natalie Portman's Look at the NY 'Black Swan' Premiere

Natalie Portman has never qualified as an ugly duckling. So there's no fairytale to her transformation for the Black Swan premiere Tuesday night in New York City.

The petite beauty looked ravishing nonetheless. In head-to-toe Dior, Portman looked reminiscent of a floating dancer, which she plays in her latest title role.

Makeup artist Jeanine Lobell created the look, focusing on the mouth: "I lined her lips with a nude pencil and filled them in with a burgundy shade," said Lobell. "Then I went over the first layer with a true blue-red in the center to give the color more dimension."

She used Rouge Dior Lipcolor in Zinnia Red layered over Fantastic Plum. The eyes were left simple: Dior Beige Point eyeshadow, black liquid liner and Diorshow Extase Mascara. The glamorous, romantic vibe extended to her hair, which was curled from ear level to the ends and left down and haphazardly parted in the middle.

Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh touts Andrew Luck as best Heisman choice

Stanford's regular season ended five days ago, but there is no shortage of news involving the Cardinal.

Coach Jim Harbaugh made an impassioned case Wednesday for quarterback Andrew Luck as the most deserving candidate for the Heisman Trophy.

Luck is expected to be one of four finalists invited to New York City next week for the awards ceremony. The favorite is Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, who has been ruled eligible for the SEC championship game even though his father was investigated by the NCAA in a pay-for-play scheme.

The NCAA determined that Newton did not know his father was seeking as much as $180,000 for Newton's services.

"In terms of what the Heisman is about, it's the person who strives for excellence with the utmost integrity," said Harbaugh, who never mentioned Newton by name.

"Andrew is pure excellence on the field. You see the same excellence in the classroom, and he has the utmost integrity. If I had to put my life in another man's hands, in terms of integrity, it would be Andrew."

Harbaugh wasn't nearly as loquacious when asked about his plans for today. He won't be attending the Michigan football banquet honoring the 1985 team, one of the best in school history. Harbaugh was the Wolverines' starting quarterback.

"I am here," he said matter-of-factly. "My schedule prevents me from being there."

Harbaugh has a practice to run, but he is no doubt aware of the chaos that his appearance would cause

in Ann Arbor. He is the favorite among Michigan fans to replace unpopular coach Rich Rodriguez, who will be attending the banquet.

# Luck is a finalist for three major awards: The Davey O'Brien, given to the nation's best quarterback, and the Maxwell and Walter Camp, which honor the nation's top player.

Newton is a finalist for all three awards, as well.

Stanford associate head coach Greg Roman is one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, given to the nation's top assistant. Roman is in charge of the tight ends and offensive tackles.

# Harbaugh was asked about the poor attendance at home games -- Stanford Stadium was rarely more than 75 percent full -- and the marketing push required to attract new fans.

"Somebody has got to spearhead that," he said. "It's got to come from the president of the university saying somebody is in charge. It can't be everybody pointing around a table saying, 'It's your job. It's your job.' "

# Harbaugh expressed frustration with the bowl selection system, in particular the prospect of Stanford's destination being affected by its small fan base (relative to teams from the SEC, Big Ten and Big 12).

"How Stanford travels to games keeps coming up," he said. "I didn't notice that in the criteria for the BCS rankings. (If it's part of the selection process), then count me in favor of a playoff."

Harbaugh is half-right: Ticket sales have nothing to do with the BCS rankings. The system is designed to match the No. 1 and 2 teams in the national championship game.

The Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange bowls operate differently. They base team selections on a number of factors, including geography, conference affiliation and economics (ticket sales, hotel bookings, etc.).

If Stanford holds its current position in the BCS standings -- it is No. 4, just ahead of Wisconsin -- it is guaranteed a spot in one of the major bowls.

But in the unlikely event it slips to No. 5, the Cardinal could get squeezed out because of its small fan base.

If that's the case, Harbaugh said, "You might have one hot guy at next week's press conference."

Body confirmed to be that of Alicia DeBolt

GREAT BEND, Kansas – Attorney General Steve Six announced during a press conference this morning that a body found just outside of Great Bend Tuesday evening is in fact that of missing 14-year-old Alicia DeBolt.

DeBolt had been missing since Saturday night when she left her home to attend a party with a 19-year-old friend.

Steve Six said the body was positively identified after an autopsy in Wichita Wednesday evening. Six said an autopsy had to be done to make the identification because it had been burned.

While Six says the investigation is ongoing, he said law enforcement officials do not believe it was a random act of violence.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen or spoken with her Saturday night to contact police.

'No Angels' singer Nadja Benaissa found guilty for hiding HIV from unprotected sexual partners
No jail for "No Angels" singer in HIV rap.

Nadja Benaissa, German pop singer with the girl band 'No Angels'

Nadja Benaissa, a member of the popular German girl band, won't be heading to prison despite

Nadja Benaissa is a member of a popular girl
band in Germany, ' No Angels '
being found guilty of having unprotected sex with men and failing to inform them she was HIV positive.

A court in Germany spared the 28-year-old of jail time, and instead sentenced her to a two-year suspended sentence, according to the German news agency, ddp
Benaissa was on trial for grievous bodily harm and attempted aggravated assault.

The one-time pop star was tried
in juvenile court because the sexual encounters began when she was 17, which is also the age she was when she learned she had HIV after a pregnancy test.
The single mother was accused of having sex with three men from 2000 to 2004, one of whom became infected with HIV.

"I never wanted this to happen to any one of my partners," Benaissa said during a statement read to the court last week.

"I'd been told the likelihood of infecting someone or that I would develop [AIDS] was more or less zero," she said. "For that reason I kept the news even from my close group of friends [as] I didn't want my daughter to be stigmatized."

Although she did not directly admit to concealing her condition from her sexual partners, she said it was "possible" the accusations were true.

"No Angels" is one of Germany's most successful girl bands, after finding fame through an "American Idol"-like talent show. The band has several hit singles, with nine albums under its belt since 2001.
Elin Nordegren Woods joins the club
Tiger’s ex breaks silence — how disappointing

Elin Nordegren Woods was thisclose to rising above it all.

But the Greta Garbo of golfers’ wives broke her nearly yearlong silence, giving People magazine an exclusive interview nine months after her husband, Tiger Woods, was outed as a sex-crazed philanderer with a mistress waiting on every back nine.

“My Own Story: WORLD EXCLUSIVE! Elin Nordegren reveals the heartbreak of the past nine months and how she stays strong.”

Welcome to celebrity, Elin. I hope you scored a decent swag bag.

The former swimsuit model and nanny who - even before Tigergate - was mum with the media, told People that “being a private person is the only normalcy.”

Yet, she was the one who approached the magazine and sat down for 19 hours to set the record straight a day after her divorce from Tiger was finalized.

Funny how the self-proclaimed “private people” finally tell all to celebrity magazines with high circulations. How come no one’s ever confessed to Charlie Rose?

Darrelle Revis and Jets still far apart on deal, Steve Sabol says 'Hard Knocks' is part of blackout

The chatter surrounding an impending blockbuster deal for Darrelle Revis was reduced to a whisper Wednesday.

Despite reports over the past several days that the Jets' All-Pro cornerback was on the verge of signing a new deal, the Daily News has learned that both sides still remain far apart in financial terms 25 days into his holdout. In other words, there's nothing new on the negotiation front.

Contrary to reports, the Jets and Revis' camp did not meet Tuesday night to put the finishing touches on a reworked deal. The cornerback also did not appear on "Hard Knocks" Wednesday night.

Woody Johnson, who was in Atlanta Wednesday for the NFL owners' meetings, characterized the situation as "status quo" to the NFL Network.

Said Rex Ryan after practice at Hofstra: "I'm not going to talk about Revis. Both sides agreed to that."

Steve Sabol, the president of NFL Films, which produces "Hard Knocks," told ESPN radio Wednesday that Revis wouldn't appear on the third episode of the HBO show. He admitted that HBO had no plans to add any late-breaking news if Revis had come to a contract agreement after the final version of the show was put together Wednesday afternoon.

"We're not news gatherers," Sabol said. "We're not really investigative reporters."

Revis, who has three years remaining on his six-year rookie contract, is looking to become the league's highest-paid cornerback. The Jets rewarded half of their nucleus in the past six weeks with new deals. Left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson signed a six-year, $60 million extension last month. HBO cameras captured Nick Mangold signing his new seven-year deal in the final few minutes of the episode Wednesday night.

There were several references to Revis on the third episode of the show, including Bart Scott's crack during a magic show on the team's final night in Cortland.

As the magician handed Mark Sanchez a deck of cards and reached inside his jacket, Scott said: "Make Revis show up. That would be a hell of a trick."

The Jets and Revis' agents imposed a media blackout two weeks ago after both sides took public swipes at each other.

Agent Neil Schwartz referred to Johnson's claim that he was "rebuffed" from attending an Aug. 6 secret meeting at the now-infamous Roscoe Diner as a "blatant joke." Ryan, in turn, characterized Schwartz's stance as a "blatant joke" and suggested the entire organization set up a town-hall-style meeting with Revis to hammer out a deal. Both sides issued a joint statement to keep talks under wraps shortly thereafter.

According to Sabol, the "Hard Knocks" crew wasn't excluded from the blackout.

"We don't want to affect contract negotiations," Sabol said. "Just like the rest of the media, we were part of the blackout. So we don't have anything to report in that area."

Website Wikileaks publishes '9/11 messages'

November 26, 2009

By BBC News[1]

A website has published what it says are 573,000 intercepted pager messages sent during the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

Wikileaks says it will not reveal who gave it the messages - some of which are from federal agencies as well as ordinary citizens.

Internet analysts say they believe the messages are genuine but federal authorities have refused to comment.

The attacks on 11 September 2001 left nearly 3,000 people dead.

The messages are being published over a 24-hour period, ending at 0800GMT on Thursday. They are being released simultaneously on Wikileaks and social networking site Twitter.

'Live' broadcast The website is broadcasting each message at the time it was sent originally in 2001.

The first message was from 0300 local time (0800 GMT), five hours before the first attack in New York and the last 24 hours later.

The messages are not all about the attacks. Some are mundane questions about what people are having for lunch.

However, many are about the deadly plane attacks and range from people trying to find out if their loved ones are safe, to government messages, to computer server errors.

They include messages such as

    * This is Myrna, I will not rest until you get home, the second tower is down, I don't want to have to keep calling you after every event. Pls just go home
    * President has been rerouted won't be returning to Washington but not sure where he will go
    * Bomb detonated in World Trade Ctr. Pls get back to Mike Brady w/a quick assessment of your areas and contact us if anything is needed

New York's fire and police departments said they could not comment on whether messages purportedly sent from them were genuine while the US Secret Service refused to comment.

Pager company USA Mobility said it was troubled by the alleged interceptions, the Associated Press news agency reported.

Wikileaks allows people to anonymously post documents on the web, saying its aim is to promote transparency.

It was created in 2006 by dissidents, journalists, mathematicians and technologists from the US, Taiwan, Europe, Australia and South Africa.

Wikileaks spokesman Daniel Schmitt said the messages were submitted anonymously to the site several weeks ago.

He told Associated Press: "From the context information that the source provided we have strong reasons to believe that this is valid data."

He said the messages would help provide a fuller picture of what happened that day.

More White Castle burgers for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas movie

More White Castle burgers and no doubt no marijuana will be part of the latest Harold and Kumar movie that is being filmed in Detroit.

“A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas" is the third in a series of movies that have previously brought in millions at the box office.

White Castle trended to the top of Google early Monday, likely from fans of the last two Harold and Kumar movies, which centered on the characters love of the fast food chain's burgers.

It's not certain what the story line will be, other than Christmas, in the latest comedy film series starring John Cho and Kal Penn.

DetroitNews.com reports that "lthough the storyline of "A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas" was not being released by Mandate Pictures, it is believed Detroit is serving as New York City, according to a crew staffer."

Jailbreakme is one of the well known tool for your iPhone to get unlock or let’s say jailbreak. After some legalities in the past years Jailbreakme was shut down but with the exemption of the congress regarding the DMCA ruling, hacking the iPhone is a legal procedure now. So the time that iPhone jailbreaking is safe and sound , Jailbreakme is now back on track along with the release of the new iPhone 4 jailbreak.

Meanwhile the official website of Jailbreakme.com seems can’t handle the server load because lots of people is simultaneously downloading the iPhone 4 jailbreak file. As of now you can still visit Jailbreakme but be sure that you synced first your iPhone or iPod touch.

While reading some updates from Engadget for the Jailbreakme downtime, it seems Saurik upgraded the server that handles the said jailbreak added to that many reports or tweets that their phone got bricked after updating and yet other owners successful JBed theiriPhone.

‘Entourage,’ Season 7, Episode 5 ‘Bottoms Up’: TV Recap

Everett Collection
There are a number of ways for a movie star to self destruct, but on this week’s episode of “Entourage,” Vince goes the Charlie Sheen route: he dates a porn star. His new ladyfriend is Sasha Grey, who crossed over to mainstream roles with Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience” but is more famous for appearances in such classics as “Throat: a Cautionary Tale.” When Vince brings Grey to a studio meeting with legendary Marvel comic book writer Stan Lee — who pretends not to recognize her — the studio gets panicky that their star is Sheen-level reckless.

Lee is among several guest stars this week. Bob Saget makes one of his semi-frequent appearances, showing up at Eric’s office to say that he wants to co-star in the John Stamos sitcom. (Drama reacts to the news that his long-awaited star vehicle is being stolen by showing up to Saget’s house with a baseball bat.) And Jessica Simpson, Mike Tyson and Aaron Sorkin make appearances, playing clients of Ari Gold who are being wooed by ex-employee Lizzie.

Like his cameo in “The Hangover,” the Tyson scene is wonderfully ridiculous; he’ll stay with the agency if Ari secures him a TV gig — Iron Mike is thinking a “Brady Bunch” remake with him as the dad. Simpson, meanwhile, is through with Ari because he never called to offer condolences after her dog died. In groveling mode, he and Lloyd show up to her house with a replacement, but Simpson isn’t impressed. It’s a poo instead of a cockapoo.

Eric and Sloan have been idling in domestic mode this season, but they finally have an interesting storyline that revolves around — how do we say this — Eric’s budding interest in being a backdoor man. As actor Kevin Connolly told us recently, the beauty of the Sloan character is that she’s up for anything, so she agrees to give it a shot — although the experience doesn’t exactly play like a Sasha Grey film.

UFC On Versus 2 : Jon Jones vs Vladimir Matyushenko Fight Video

There was an awful lot of hype leading up to Sunday night’s UFC on Versus 2: Jones Vs Matyushenko event, with many MMA fans putting Matyushenko down as the underdog and Jon Jones as UFC’s top prospect.

Clearly, the UFC is showcasing Jon Jones as this is his second time headlining on Versus. And it’s not a bad guy to showcase. I think everyone who enjoys this sport loves to watch this guy fight.

UFC Live 2 – Jon Jones vs Vladimir Matyushenko
Ultimate Fighting Championship
August 1, 2010
San Diego Sports Arena,
San Diego, California, United States
Well, it was quick and pretty much painless. Jones got an early takedown and got Matyushenko into a little brother/crucifix position and with his left arm, started rifling elbow after elbow at his head. Herb stopped it before Matyushenko looked like John Howard.

It was a short night for the prodigious talent, who barely broke a sweat in dismantling Vladimir Matyushenko with a salvo of elbows from top position at just 1:52 of the opening period.

Jones hit a takedown on his advancing opponent after landing a spinning back kick. He quickly moved into dominant position — a mounted crucifix that tied up both of Matyushenko’s arms. Once set up on top, Jones hammered the defenseless Matyushenko with no less than 10 elbows before referee Herb Dean felt it was time to end the barrage.

Winner: Jon Jones by way of 1st round TKO

After the fight, Jones said he trained “his butt off” because he knew that Matyushenko was a tough guy. He said that he hoped that Joe Silva and Dana White kick it up a notch in competition for him. When Joe Rogan pressed Jones for a name that he’d like to face, Jones just said that he trusted whomever Silva comes up for him.

True Blood Season 3 - Episode 7 Recap and First Season 3 Episode 8 Preview [Video]

Alright, fangbangers! True Blood aired another all-new episode tonight, True Blood 3.07 titled Hitting The Ground, and this was once tense episode. On last week's episode, Sookie was becoming a feast for Lorena, but she is saved by Bill at the start of this week's episode. Sookie ends up staking Bill's maker. She is determined to rescue him. With Alcide's and Tara's help, she is successful, even if they have to deal with some wolves first.
Once on the truck back to Bon Temps, things take a strange turn once Sookie lets Bill feed on her blood to save him. He ends up turning on her and feeds on her past the point that is safe. Tara finds her, abandons Bill in broad daylight, and takes her to the nearest hospital. There is something about her though because her blood seems to allow him to be in daylight for a short time without burning up. Initial attempts to treat her are unsuccessful. There is an issue with her blood that won't allow for her to have a transfusion. Jason is called in as next of kin because it looks that bad.

However, once Bill arrives on scene, his blood seems to be what heals her. When she wakes up though, she isn't happy to see him. You can see by the look on her face that his attack has made her fear him. In addition to these happenings, Sam finds Tommy mid fight, and he convinces his younger brother to leave their parents. Jason continues to try to find out more about the mysterious Crystal, and Sophie Anne needs to deal with her fate. Eric uses her human companion to find out what Sophie Anne's interest in Sookie is, and this is where he discovers Sophie Anne had been keeping Sookie's cousin by her side. He learns this right before he turns her.

Next week on True Blood 3.08 titled Night of the Sun, Sophie Anne must deal with her new life while Lafayette must deal with the return of his mother. Chelsea Clinton's Vera Wang wedding dress (pictures and video)

The past few weeks there have been much speculation over which designer Chelsea would choose for her wedding gown – Vera Wang or Oscar de la Renta. The big day has now passed, and we now know that Chelsea Clinton chose a gorgeous, romantic Vera Wang design for her wedding gown. Chelsea looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in her strapless ivory gown featuring a diagonally draped bodice, ball skirt made out of raw edged laser-cut swirling silk organza, and a train in silk tulle. A silver-jeweled embroidery accentuate her small waist, as a dramatic veil swept down her back, tying this picture-perfect look together.

The new Mrs. Marc Mezvinsky kept her hair and face subtle, pairing simple, fresh makeup with an upswept hairstyle, as to not distract from the dramatic gown. In addition to her striking ensemble, Chelsea carried a bouquet in a monochromatic ivory, a new trend of the fall season.

Not only did Vera Wang design this gown, but she was also present at the ceremony.

The New York Yankees look to extend their AL East lead at Tampa Bay
The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays finish off their series in Tampa.

The Tampa Bay Rays looked to have the Yankees beat on Saturday and they were poised to be in the lead in the American League East, but it didn't work out that way for them as they let it all get away from them and ended up taking the loss. Matt Garza allowed five hits and four earned runs while striking out nine in seven innings of work to not factor in the decision but it was Rafael Soriano who came in to pitch the ninth and gave up the game winner and took his first loss of the year. Mathew Joyce hit his fifth home run of the year as John Jaso had three hits and Carl Crawford had two pace the offense in the losing effort. The loss leaves the Rays two games back in the American League East but they are five and a half games clear in the AL Wild Card race. For Sunday's game Tampa Bay starts James Shields who has rebounded from a massive losing streak and has won his last two starts. For the season Shields has allowed 154 hits and 72 earned runs while striking out 122 in 135 and a third innings of work.

The New York Yankees continue to show why they are the defending Wold Series Champions and why they have the best record in baseball as they came up with another big hit in another big game. Javier Vazquez allowed eight hits and four earned runs while striking out three to get a no decision as Dave Robertson ended up being the winner for the second time this season and Mariano Rivera got his 22nd save. Robinson Cano was the hero as he blasted a ninth inning home run to provide the difference maker. Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher also hit homers as the Yankees made all six hits work for them. The win gives New York a two game lead in the East and means they will at worst leave Tampa Bay with the lead in the AL East. For game three against the Rays The Yankees start C.C. Sabathia who took a very rare loss last time out. For the season Sabathia has allowed 136 hits and 53 runs while striking out 124 in 151 and a third innings.

Tampa Bay is 7-0 in their last seven games following a loss, 5-1 in their last six home games against a team with a winning road record, 3-9 in Shields' last 12 starts, and 10-2 in their last 12 home games against a left-handed starter. New York is 11-3 in their last 14 road games, 7-3 in their last 10 road games against a right-handed starter, 4-1 in Sabathia's last five road starts, and 56-24 in their last 80 against the AL East. Tampa Bay is 0-5 in Shields' last five starts against New York.

The Yankees showed the world why they are the team to beat as they got the hits when they needed them and once they got there, it was all Mariano Rivera. Shields is not having a good year and this looks like a bad spot for him.
