The Thursday Night Football schedule for 2009 was dominated last week by the NFL season opener. But starting this week, the Thursday schedule just has college football games for a while. The Thursday
Thursday Night Football Schedule 2009 Now Belongs to College Football
Night Football schedule for college football in 2009 is already well under way, and has already made some infamous headlines. Tonight, Thursday Night Football 2009 has one of the few games between top 25 college football teams this weekend, which is an important game for two ACC contenders.
The Thursday Night Football schedule 2009 started for college football with the ugly Oregon-Boise State game two weeks ago. Last week, while Thursday Night Football coverage was controlled by the Steelers and Titans, college football showed Georgia Tech nearly losing a 24 point lead to Clemson, before holding on. For this Thursday Night Football week, Georgia Tech will need a much better performance.
The 15'th ranked Yellow Jackets go to Miami tonight to face the Hurricanes, who are ranked 20'th after a thrilling win over Florida State. The Hurricanes are trying to return to national prominence, and many are eager to declare "The U" back after their opening win. Defeating Georgia Tech, which is projected to be a major ACC contender, would go a long way to continue that goal.
The Yellow Jackets also have to prove that their high preseason ranking isn't a fraud - a charge fueled by their near-disaster in the second half last Thursday night. But the Steelers and Titans helped overshadow that last week - though this week, the Yellow Jackets and Hurricane are the only Thursday Night Football game in town.
For the next two months, the Thursday Night Football schedule for 2009 will just have college games on ESPN. Next week has another premiere game, when fifth ranked Ole Miss goes to visit South Carolina. After that, the Big 12, ACC and Big East will split Thursday night games - with Oregon returning to Thursday night on the last week of the season, against Oregon State.
